Family Dynamics of Sibling Schizophrenics¢¥ Family

Abstract
Author attempted to find ciit whether there were any characteristic findings in the sibling: schizopb.rerics¢¥ family (family in which more than two members of sibling were schizophrenia), including clinical feature, interpersonal relationship between sibling schizophrenics and family structure with it¢¥s dynamics.
Study group included 53 schizophrenics from 24 sibling schizophrenics¢¥ families who were recently admitted to Kyungpook National University Hospital, Dongsan Presbyterian Hospital. and. local clinics in Taegu city.
Results obtained were summarized as follows:
The members of sibling were larger in the sibling schizophrenics¢¥ families than that of normal and the first born childrens were affected more frequently than subsequent ones.
The presenting symptoms of sibling schizophrenics from the same family were similiar but more severe in the patient who was afflicted first.
Interpersonal relationship between sibling schizophernic:~ in the -same family was symbiotic in the .majority, and small number showed rivalism, depending on their family structure &dynamism.
Higher frequency rate of sibling schizophrenia was noti<;ed in the family in which father was. the eldest son or the only child. And usually fathers were; found to be overprotective &submissive.
Comparative analysis of the above findings showed no difference from the family in which only one child was afflicted. However one outstanding characteristic of family dynamics from the study group was seen in that there were more family secrets and legitimate-illegitimate struggles due to father¢¥s debauchery.
